Current trend

The ETH/USD pair has been under sustained selling pressure, forming a new downward trend since the beginning of May: after reaching annual lows around 1504.00, the price attempted a limited corrective rebound, however, it failed to generate “bullish” momentum. Currently, the instrument is testing the 1750.00–1700.00 support zone (Murray level [2/8]–midline of the Bollinger Bands): a sustained break and consolidation below this area would open the way for downside targets at 1500.00 (Murray level [0/8]) and 1375.00 (Murray level [-1/8]), while a breakout above 2000.00 (Murray level [4/8]) would signal a resumption of upward momentum towards 2250.00 (Murray level [6/8]) and 2500.00 (Murray level [8/8]).

Technical indicators confirm the continuation of the long-term downward trend: the Bollinger Bands and Stochastic are turning to the downside, while the MACD histogram remains stable in negative territory. It is also worth noting that on the weekly timeframe the Bollinger Bands are sloping downwards, confirming the validity of the long-term “bearish” trend, while price action has failed to break above the midline of the indicator.

Support and resistance

Resistance levels: 2000.00, 2250.00, 2500.00.

Support levels: 1700.00, 1500.00, 1375.00.

Trading tips

Short positions should be opened below the level of 1650.00 with the targets at 1500.00, 1375.00 and a stop loss at 1750.00. Implementation period: 5-7 days.

Long positions should be opened above below the level of 2000.00 with the targets at 2250.00, 2500.00 and a stop loss at 1870.00.
