USD/CHF: technical analysis

Current trend

In early May, the USD/CHF pair is correcting within a long-term downward trend, while currently testing the 0.8117 level (Murray level [5/8]), the break of which would allow “bullish” traders to regain positions and push the pair towards 0.8239 (Murray level [7/8], Fibonacci retracement 38.2%) and 0.8422 (Murray level [+2/8], Fibonacci retracement 50.0%). Conversely, a sustained move below the support zone of 0.8023–0.7995 (Murray level [4/8]–Fibonacci retracement 23.6%, midline of the Bollinger Bands) would act as a catalyst for a decline towards 0.7812 (Murray level [0/8], lower Bollinger Band) and 0.7690 (Murray level [-2/8]).

Technical indicators confirm the continuation of the prevailing trend: the Bollinger Bands are sloping upwards, the MACD histogram is expanding in positive territory, and the Stochastic oscillator is exiting the overbought zone, not ruling out a corrective move, although its potential remains limited. It is also worth noting that the Bollinger Bands are turning upwards on the weekly timeframe, and the Inverted Head and Shoulders pattern is also developing, which can also be interpreted as a signal to strengthen the “bullish” momentum.

Resistance levels: 0.8117, 0.8239, 0.8422.

Support levels: 0.7995, 0.7812, 0.7690.

Trading tips

Long positions should be opened when the price is fixed above the 0.8117 level or when it reverses around 0.7995 with the targets at 0.8239, 0.8422 and stop losses at 0.8030 and 0.7880, respectively. Implementation period: 5–7 days.
