At 16:00 (GMT+2), the August data on the consumer confidence index in the EU countries will be published. The indicator is based on a survey of 2.3K households assessing the economy’s prospects. It is a leading indicator for consumer spending and high readings indicate consumer optimism and vice versa. It is expected that the August indicator will slow down the negative dynamics from –15.1 points to –14.3 points, which may still put pressure on the euro.
