At 11:00 (GMT+2), the August data on the consumer confidence index in the EU countries will be published. The indicator is based on a survey of 2.3K households assessing econimic prospects. It is a leading indicator for consumer spending, and high readings indicate consumer optimism and vice versa. The August indicator may accelerate the negative dynamics from the current –15.1 points to –16.0 points, which, in turn, may put pressure on the euro.
