At 12:00 (GMT+2), January data on the consumer confidence index in the EU countries will be published. The indicator is based on a survey of 2.3K households that assess the prospects of the economy. It is a leading indicator for consumer spending, with high readings indicating consumer optimism and vice versa. It is expected that in January, the indicator would continue its negative trend from −15.1 points to −16.1 points, putting pressure on the euro.
