The indicator reflects the state of business activity in the national manufacturing industry based on a survey of purchasing and supply managers of leading national enterprises in all industries. At the same time, their attitude to the current economic situation and prospects for further development are assessed. It may change from 48.4 points to 48.3 points putting pressure on the American dollar.

At 02:30 (GMT+2), Japan will publish the December services PMI from the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry. The indicator reflects the total value of services purchased by companies in key service industries (excluding manufacturing) and is a leading indicator for the Tankan PMI. It may grow from 51.4, supporting the yen.
