The indicator is published quarterly by the national Department of Research and Statistics and is calculated based on a survey of managers of large companies in the manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors. The survey assesses such economic parameters as business conditions, supply and demand, production and sales, price levels, income, employment, investment, tax conditions. The Large Manufacturing Index is likely to fall from 14.0 points to 12.0 points, while Tankan Non - Manufacturing Index will be fixed at around 33.0 points. If the forecast proves right, the yen may fall under pressure.
