At 08:00 (GMT+2), the UK will release retail sales figures for March. The figure measures the volume of all goods retailers sold each month based on a sample of stores of different types and sizes. It is an important indicator of consumer spending, and has a significant impact on gross domestic product (GDP). It may fall from 1.0% to –0.4% MoM and from 2.2% to 2.0% YoY, putting pressure on the pound.
