At 16:00 (GMT+2), the August data on the consumer confidence index in the eurozone countries will be published, calculated on the basis of a survey of 2.3 thousand households that assess the prospects of the economy. It is a leading indicator for consumer spending, with high readings indicating consumer optimism and vice versa. The indicator is likely to adjust from –14.7 points to –15.0 points, putting pressure on the position of the single European currency.
