The indicator is published quarterly by the national Department of Research and Statistics and is calculated based on a survey of managers of large companies in the manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors. The survey assesses such economic parameters as business conditions, supply and demand, production and sales, price levels, income, employment, investment, tax conditions. The sentiment index of large manufacturers is likely to rise from 15.0 points to 16.0 points, while non-manufacturing companies will adjust from 34.0 points to 33.0 points, putting pressure on the Japanese yen.
