Citigroup Inc is one of the largest international financial holdings. It was founded in 1998 by the merger of Citicorp and Travelers Group, but the main division of Citibank appeared as early as in 1812. The headquarters is located in New York, USA. The company provides a wide range of products and services to individual clients, corporations, governments, and public institutions. Citigroup is one of the four largest banks in the US and is also ranked among the top 100 public companies by Forbes magazine.

The price of Citigroup stocks largely depends on the general popularity of US stock assets. The price of #C rises when investors redirect their funds from Europe and Asia to the US market. During periods of economic crisis, investors prefer to invest in safe-haven assets (gold, US dollar, Swiss franc); therefore, global stock markets fall, and the value of Citigroup shares, respectively, decreases.

The Fed's regulatory policy could also affect the #C rate. The holding often had to form additional reserves due to the regulator's requirements. As a result, Citigroup's revenue declined, which led to higher volatility of its stocks. At the same time, it is important to monitor the company's response to the Fed’s actions. For example, in 2020, the regulator demanded to limit the payment of dividends or reduce their size. However, Citigroup said the payment volume would remain at the same level. This fact raised the company's prestige among investors, and #C shares rose in price.

Citigroup also depends on the economic situation in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America. More than half of the revenue comes from these regions. Any economic and political shocks in these countries will affect the company’s profits and, accordingly, the value of its stocks.

The global economic situation is a significant factor for #C price. Citigroup's credit card portfolio is much larger than that of Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, and Wells Fargo. If the number of violations and delinquency on loans grows, the company's revenue will decrease.

Interesting facts about the #C (Citigroup Inc)

Citigroup Inc was formed as a result of extremely fortunate circumstances. The merger of Citicorp and the Travelers Group in 1998 was considered illegal because, under the Glass-Steagall Act, banks were prohibited from merging with insurance companies. However, the Fed approved this move on the condition that all insurance assets be sold within two years. But a year later, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act lifted the restrictions. As a result, Citigroup has become a leading financial holding company with a wide range of financial services, which positively impacts its share price.

Citigroup securities are popular with dividend investors. The company makes payments once a year, from $0.03 to $21.6 per share. The yield varies from 0.06% to 16.7% per annum. As a rule, the #C rate increases prior to dividend payout, attracting new investors.

The crisis of 2008 seriously affected Citigroup. The company had to lay off about 23 thousand employees and close several unprofitable projects. Together with the Fed, the bank developed a stabilization plan, but it was impossible to avoid a large-scale reorganization of Citigroup. As a result, the share price fell.

In the spring of 2022, #C unexpectedly rose despite a 46% drop in net quarterly earnings. Citigroup explained this by the high cost of borrowing, rising costs, and lower underwriting income. However, the shares rose 3.5%. The reason is that the financial statements turned out to be better than the analytical forecasts.
