The pair USD/JPY consists of US dollar and Japanese Yen. Each of them has preconditions for rate changes. Primarily, the yen is under the influence of the Bank of Japan, whose actions are mainly aimed at decreasing the price of the yen since the low rate enables them to make Japanese products more competitive in the world markets. US politicians’ statements about new restrictions on the import of Japanese goods and technology also have a significant role because such restrictions and duties cause sharp declines in the yen rate.

Meanwhile, the USD rate is affected by several factors: interest rate changes, economic situation, US credit rating, and some other events, which you can find in the economic calendar. The currency pair USD/JPY is hard-to-predict. At the same time, high market volatility allows us to gain from several dozen up to a few hundred points on a single market move.

Interesting facts about the USDJPY (US Dollar to Japanese Yen)

The Japanese yen was adopted in an Act in June of 1871 by the Meiji government. The currency was introduced in July of 1871. JPY replaced mon, a copper-based coin and the center of a complex monetary system.

The yen significantly depreciated against the USD and CAD in 1873 due to a devaluation of silver as the USA and Canada started to use the gold standard. Japan only turned to the gold standard in 1897. 1- ,5- ,10- ,50- ,100-, and 500-denomination coins, as well as 1,000- , 2,000- , 5,000-, and 10,000-denomination bills have been in circulation since 2004. Larger denominations of the currency are counted in multiples of 10,000, while in most Western countries, they are considered in thousands.

The Japanese yen is one of the safe-haven assets. It rises in value when the market sentiment is negative and investors aren't ready to risk. It is not a surprise that the Japanese yen is one of the currencies that can be difficult to counterfeit. The monetary authority implied numerous anti-counterfeit measures, such as watermarks, holograms, intaglio ink, and luminescent ink.

The first US dollar was claimed as the country's money standard in 1792 by the Coinage Act. The Act introduced a system where 1 dollar is equal to 100 cents and defined the composition of the alloy of gold and silver coins. Bills with a $1 denomination represent 45% of all USD production. The country prints 37 million notes every day, which equals $696 million.

As it's hard to forecast the USD/JPY rate, you should keep in mind the times when price fluctuations are smooth. The best time to trade the USD to JPY pair is from 15:00 to 00:00 - American trading session; and from 02:00 to 11:00 (GMT+3, indicated in LiteFinance trading platform) - Asian trading session.
